Tire Size Explanation Speed Rating

Do you find difficulties to read tire speed rating and diagram? Here is tire size explanation that can be guide to choose right tires for your vehicles, including trucks and SUVs. Of course there will be a symbol look on sidewall of your tires. It contains numbers and letter such as 205/40R16. In fact, this symbol will provide identification of such tire to be intended for, measurements, speed ratings and operating temperature.
After doing some research online in order to find tire size explanation, I finally find what the number without letter on tire (metric size) means. According to ehow.com about basic tire symbol:
A “P” signifies that the tire is to be used on passenger vehicles such as cars, SUVs, 1/4-ton and 1/2-ton pickup trucks, and minivans. A “T” indicates a temporary spare tire. “LT” is for light trucks and vehicles that carry heavy loads or pull other vehicles, such as SUVs, large vans, and 3/4-ton and one-ton pickups.
So which numbers do indicate tire speed rating? It is also explained that:
The letter S is used for speed limits up to 112 miles per hour; the letter H is used for speed limits up to 130 miles per hour; the letter V is used for speed limits up to 150 miles per hour. For anything above 150 miles per hour, the letter Z would be used.
I hope this tire size explanation for speed rating will give slight understanding about letter and number symbols on tires. So it is suggested to drive your car and truck based on speed limit for your own safety on road.
